I've done a new one and ...

Okay so this whole charcoal/ watercolor thing is really fun for me. Now I actually want to work on some larger canvases and try mixing charcoals with acrylic and see how that goes.
I like this one but I think I'm going to post it in a crtique room on www.Garyreef.ning.com. There they do very good constructive critism of your work. I'm having mixed feelings about the absence of color on the right side of the drawing/painting.

Now I've been playing around with some photography and here is some pictures I took.
AGHHHHHHHH! Oh no there gone!!!! Some how they aren't anywhere on my PC :(

BET is an embarrassment...

BET Awards has truly been a let down. I would have much rather they went on with the show as scheduled and then done a tribute to Michael later. Also I too was looking forward to a tribute to MJ from Chris Brown as well. It was the only reason why I watched the show in the first place.

If its true about Jay-Z having any influence on Chris not performing I think that is just wrong. After all none of us are perfect. I would've much rather have seen Chris's tribute than Jay-Z's lack there of.

In my opinion the show overall was tacky. I was embarrassed by the lack of respect shown for the elders of the audience. Not to mention the message the use of vulgarity and profanity sends to our young people. There were a few good performances but they were overshadowed by the lack of professionalism displayed by many of the celebrities.

The sad thing is they will repeat this train wreck all week. And I'm not even going to get started on the line up of reality garbage that BET has coming up. Perpetuating more of the same mess displayed on the awards.

I'm in love with watercolor! I'm trying to figure out how to get it so that I can do some large scaled ones for a 16x20 canvas or watercolor paper. Watercolor tubes are so small... I must do some research but if anyone has suggestions I'm open.

Below is a picture of some art trading cards for the collectors out there. They are called ACEO's and they are the size of baseball trading cards. You can keep them in an album or make a collage.
They are now available in my Etsy store. You can even click on the pics and buy.
.Also I've have been playing around with the charcoals and that has been pretty fun also. I have even combined the two and I really like the results.

Now I've done three charcoal black and white drawings and I plan to do more abstract charcoal pieces but I'm finding as I work in this medium, that I would probably like the charcoal sticks better than the pencils or maybe both. However I am coming across some challenges using just the pencils. I know for sure if I were to do larger pieces I would use sticks.

Thank You Dana Marie!!!

YAY! My wearable art has arrived! It's even more beautiful in person. I tell ya this lady is THE BOMB!!!!

Okay once upon a time I was snooping around on Twitter looking for other artist to twit with and I stumbled upon Ms. DanaMarie. I went to a linked she posted and to my amazement and surprise she was doing tiny paintings. I just so happen to love tiny paintings (aceo's) however she took tiny and turned it to teny.
I mean her wearable art glass pendants are so unique. She is the inspiration behind me starting my line.
So anyway I knew I wanted one but there weren't any that said RichAnt. Then I found one that she did of a rendition of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. I thought to myself "this I have to see in person" I mean the details were so intricate. The only thing was it was already sold. So you know me and my love for the color purple. I sent her a DM (direct message) on Twitter and asked if she could do me one using shades of purple. She said yes and that is how the "Rendition of Starry Night in Amethyst" was born. Then it made it's way to me.

Thank You so very much DanaMarie your art has touch my heart both figuratively and literally.

Waffle Sundae

I was inspired to do this drawing as part of a food series I wanted to do. Like I'm sure I've said before I'm all over the place with my art. I have ideas spilling out of my head to the point it sometimes paralyzes me. I won't know what to start on first or where too start.

Anyway this one was born out of boredom while sitting at work. I carry around a sketch book in my purse constantly. You never know when the idea or inspiration is going to hit you.
This was done with graphite pencil, prismacolor pencils, and prismacolor markers. Then sprayed with primacolor fixative to perserve and protect.

Strawberry Sundae Waffle
1 container (1lb) fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
2 cups biscuit mix (bisquick)
1 1/3 cups milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
9 cups vanilla ice cream
6 tablespoon whipped topping
Chocolate sauce for drizzling

Makes 12 servings (1/2 stack each)

Refrigerate.

3. Make waffles per manufactures instructions. Keep waffles warm on rack of 200* oven while cooking next batch (you will need 12 waffles or sections.)
4. To serve: Place one waffles or waffles section on a plate. Top with 1 1/2 cups ice cream, 1/2 cup of strawberry mixture and a second waffle. Add a few more strawberries and dollop with on tablespoon whipped topping. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and serve.

Art cards and art pendants

Hi yall!
I'm so sleepy but I'm posting this so I can feel like I did something that contributed to my art today.
Over a period of about four weeks I've been working on more hand painted greeting cards to post in my etsy store. It isn't that their time consuming it's just I can never stay focused on one thing for long. I have so many ideas so I'm always allover the place. I have even started a new series of drawings/paintings in black and white that will be totally abstract. I'll be combining the use of charcoal and paint or charcoal and marker. The sketches I've done look really cool.

But here are the art cards

Also I finished my pedants that I talked about in my other post. So you can also check out that video here video

My latest project.

I found inspiration to do this particular style of pedant from DanaMarieArt. She is an art blogger I follow on twitter and here on the blogspot.
I myself have commissioned a glass locket pendant original art from
DanaMarieArt. Her work is exceptionally exquisite.

I like this kind of pendant art more than the typical glass art pendants because it allows for the pendant owner to still own an original piece of art.

I've done six of these tiny paintings yet I have only purchased three glass lockets. I will post them in my store and see how well things go. Between this and the small art trading cards. I have truly fallen in love with tiny works of art. I find myself feeling a zen like calmness when working on small bodies of art.
Don't get me wrong the larger bodies I enjoy as well, but they can sometimes be a bit intimidating for me. Not to mention expensive. This allows me to work continuously on my art regardless of my budget until my sales increase.

My Art Swap Cards

I got the idea to trade cards on Garyreef.ning.com in a swap group.
I've done some art swap cards to swap with other artist. So if you would like to swap leave a comment.

All of the cards are original paintings, drawings, etc etc. Most measure at around 4x6 but measurements don't have to exact.

I've been neglecting my blog

I've been neglecting my blog for so long people probably don't even bother coming here anymore. Well It's officially back on track.

I've been working on a whole lot of art. However like my blog I've been neglecting my etsy shop as well. I have 15 paintings to re photograph and upload. Its quite sad and down right pathetic. I mean here I am this talented artist living vicariously through the other artist I love.

I mean really what kind of silly sorry existence is that?

One of my new You Tube subscribers sent me an email talking about how glad she was to have found me. I seem to inspire her She even named me amongst artist I think are great. That made my evening. That alone is enough to get off my butt and post my art.

So if your reading this just know that no later than Sunday I will have all my pics posted on my Etsy store.

Now check out what I'm working on now...
