So after a very busy painting summer I am now back at the market on Fenton Street in Silver Spring, MD. First day back was so awesome and refreshing to be amongst such wonderful artisans. The energy is always good and the people are like family. So many familiar faces.
I had some new art on display there.
The Pink Afro Chic sold yay! So now she is released as a limited edition print of 50 in two sizes 8x10 and 13x19.

I am currently working on a commission but after that I will resume creating a body of work for a solo show.

Wall trees

So my family trees are so popular that I was commissioned to do one on the actual wall. I know cool right!?
Well not only did I paint a big tree on her wall but I added mirrors and miniature black glittered Polaroid pictures of her family. Yes the same way I hand cut leaves I hand cut mini polaroid frames and edit and cut mini photos. It was tedious but so worth the effect.

Working working working

I'm having the time of my life creating.  I'm so happy to be back fulltime creating.
The oil painting is still untitled.  So suggestions are welcome.  The family tree was so much fun.  They make great gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, mother's day, father's day or just because.  Anyway you like it one side of the the family or both as many generations as you'd like. Commission yours today.

Fast food

Salad for dinner was the best choice I could've made. No more greasy processed garbage. I didn't even have to turn on the stove.
-red onion
-black beans

Very good extra virgin olive oil and old bay seasoning.

I love being creative

I'm cooking new recipes, making bib button necklaces, and discovering new apps on my new phone that make cool works of art.

Day off yay!

I have been working on this small 11x14 oil painting for about a month now. I've been so busy working two salons and church ministry.  I'm not sure exactly how art got pushed out of my life. Its does make you appreciate the time when you have it. It also makes me realize I need to grind harder to manifest a dream that I desperately want to become my reality.
Anyway I really really love oil paints. I use water soluble ones by Winsor Newton or Reeves. More so the Reeves because this brand was affordable and they came in a package of 18 colors I think.
I do use other mediums with them like Mona Lisa oderless paint thinner and Winsor Newton Artisan water mixable linseed oil. I just recently bought Winsor Newton Drying linseed oil. I'm trying that oil on the painting I'm currently working on.
Also I love working on wood...although a collage canvas is my next favorite.  I have not given up acrylic or watercolor but yes oil is favorite. However the other two are more instant as far as turning out a finished product.
The water soluble oils do have a faster drying time than traditional oils. They can be intermixed with traditional oils as well. I will say I tend to still lay several of my under layers down in acrylic washes then once they are dry I finish in oils.
I love art! So many mediums I'm looking to explore. I want to get into creating unique jewelry that is wearable art. I will paint on anything! I hope you guys have fun and experiment the same way.

My Stockholm friend Malin

Inspired by one of her recent belly post. I decided to draw and paint a whimsical expecting mom to be. Its not an actual portrait of her but in her likeness. We had a discussion about doing a trade. So I thought this would be a wonderful trade. Its giving me a few problems like the grease stain. The too pink arm. The red streak I can't get out of her hair. I realised she isn't a bold red head but more reddish brown. Then there is the pencil smudges that are now on her face. But today is a new day and I will give myself a hour and after that if I don't like it I will start over.

This is another CD cover art for a single that was released today. I just completed it last night I used prisma color pencils and markers collaged on paper. The man, woman, bus sign, bow, arrow, satchel, red title are all collages that I glued onto scrapbook paper that already had the scratchy grey design. Then I drew a brick pattern on. I also drew a bench and sidewalk. The blue writing was added last with markers and gel pens.

I've been drawing people

So in order to make quick cash in between art shows I have been doing quick renderings of people with graphite on 9x11 drawing paper. Now although it doesn't really allow me to play with my imagination much if at all.... the process is quite pleasant. It has actually given me ideas for how I can make it more imaginative. I can't wait to get started, but first I must find the perfect Muse

New twist to my channel

So I was supposed to be going to church and all morning I was dragging and dragging. So needless to say I ended up home doing other things. That's what happens when you stay up until 2:30 am. Even my coffee wasn't helping so I stayed home and art jammed with my mother.
Anyway I have been dying to add some new twist to my YouTube channel and OOTD (outfit of the day) was one of them. I have at times did a little cooking so I think eventually I just want my art channel to be a lifestyle channel. I just love sharing all the things I love and hopefully will meet others around the world who love it too.

Weekend outing

This past weekend I had the pleasure of going to a solo art exhibit of fellow artist Sandra Davis. My daughter came with me.

I got all dressed up for the occasion.
The silver infinity scarf, skirt and jacket are all made by
My hair was an old twist out.

Sandra Davis beside her artwork titled Inner Scream.
She uses all paper and I do mean ALL paper. Even the tiny eyelashes are done with paper.
Although she has used paint in some of her past work the pictures shown here are all made entirely of paper.

If your local her show is exhibiting until the end of February at The Center For Green Urbanism 3938 Benning Road NE, DC
